Spring is here! And so is our new website.
Like everyone else, we’ve been doing a bit of Spring cleaning. Quite a bit, in fact. You’ve already noticed that Digital Conversations has a brand new look. It’s part of revamped branding for all of our online properties, including a new website and a brand new Digital Conversations blog. I encourage you to send your feedback on the new site, and to subscribe to our RSS feed for regular email marketing tips and tricks between issues of the newsletter.

2006 Email Marketing Trends
Last week we received our copy of the Inter@ctive Reid Report on email marketing and the news is positive! For the second year in a row, Canadian users are receiving less email and the volume of spam has not increased.

With more than 80% of Canadians reporting that they have registered to receive email from an average of 9 websites, the only remaining question is why any company would choose not to communicate with their customers via email!

Kinetix’ clients are encouraged to contact your account representative for a free consultation on what these results might mean for your email marketing initatives in 2006. If you’d like more information about the state of the email marketing industry in Canada, you can purchase the full report from Ipsos Reid.

Email open and clickthrough rates peak on... Friday? They do, according to the "Q4 2005 E-mail Statistics" released by eROI. Likely because fewer email messages are sent on Friday, so there's less noise in the inbox.

Creative Showcase: Playland is open!
That phrase always let’s me know that spring has arrived in Vancouver! There’s something about the smell of popcorn and the delighted squeals of terrified riders barreling down the hills on the roller coaster that signals summer is just around the corner.

This year, the PNE wanted to infuse their email campaigns with the joy and fun of Playland while remaining consistent with the look and feel of their corporate website. Our team redesigned the newsletter, giving it a fresh new look.

More of our recent work...

Dear Aunt May,
We’ve been sending our email newsletter to our customers using our in-house exchange server and a bulk email management tool we purchased online for a few hundred dollars. It’s been working great up until a few days ago. Suddenly we’re having problems getting our email delivered. Even personal email from our sales reps isn’t getting through. Have you any idea what could be going wrong?

Stonewalled,

Email Marketing Tip: Image Dimensions
When developing an email message that uses graphics, take the time to specify the width and height of each image within it. Using the dimensions will ensure that the images do not become lumped horizontally side by side as well as shift around when the image loads. Images and messages will also load faster as the computer will not have to determine their placement. The width and height attributes use pixels for measurement, and can be added within the image <img> tag.
